Playing For You From Our Scented Cottage..

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.

Did You Know...

That when planting a rose bush, if you bury a banana peel or a rotted banana in the soil next to the roots of the bush it will benefit them? You will see larger and lovelier blooms on your roses as they need potassium for proper growth.

Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers as these will stimulate aphid reproduction.

For controlling aphids and spider mites on your beautiful roses you can make this insecticidal soap, since aphids, spider mites and other small, soft-bodied insects are best controlled with soaps. Use only soft soaps, not harsh detergents, which can damage your rose plants.

Combine 3 tsp. of Murphy's oil soap, castile soap or Ivory dish washing liquid with 3cups of warm water. Stir the soap mixture until it is thoroughly incorporated.

Add 1 cup of vegetable, coconut or mineral oil to the soap water, and allow the mixture to steep overnight.

Pour the insecticidal soap into a spray bottle and mist your plants once a week, preferably after a rainstorm.
