Playing For You From Our Scented Cottage..

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.

Dress Up Your Toast...

With Pear Butter! If you like pears, you will love pear butter. I have many recipes that call for canning, but today I'm keeping it simple. This will make one jar of pear butter that's great for dressing up your toast, breads, pancakes, waffles etc. Keep it refrigerated for up to 2 weeks, but I doubt it will last that long!

Ingredients:
4 Medium Barlett Pears(ripe, peeled, cored and cut into 1 inch chunks)
3/4 Cup Pear Nectar (can be found in the canned juice aisle of your market)
1/4 tsp. Cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg (optional)

Place pears and pear nectar in a heavy saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cover and simmer over medium low heat about 30 minutes or until pears are very tender. This will depend on the ripeness of the pears you used.

Mash the pears with a fork or potato masher and cook uncovered, stirring often, until the puree has cooked down to a bit thicker than the consistency of applesauce. This usually takes about 20-30 minutes.

Pour your pear butter into a clean jar or plastic container and allow to cool. Refrigerate and enjoy for your breakast, snack or teatime!
